Rare and Beautiful

We mentioned in our September Birthstone post a beautiful new ring that we have in our autumnal window display at our store in Hitchin.

This ring caused much excitement when it first arrived. It's a large (1.99ct) oval Padparascha Sapphire and diamond cluster ring.  It has diamond set shoulders, and its set in 18ct yellow gold and platinum.

Tribute to the Mont Blanc

The 'Tribute to the Mont Blanc' is in store!

Here at Gatwards we can not believe how stunning this new collection from Mont Blanc is.  The Tribute to the Mont Blanc collection is a fascinating homage to the highest mountain of Europe.

The design of this collection has focused on three main parts.           The Body; for this collection the body is snow white lacquering with platinum fittings and a rhodium plated 18ct gold nip.

The Engraving; The silhouette of the Mont Blanc and the surrounding valleys are engraved in detail in the platinum plated front of each writing instrument, with the names and altitudes of each summit.

The Emblem; Although this stylised peak plays a key role in every product from Mont Blanc, only the       'Tribute to the Mont Blanc' collection exclusively shown cases the emblems in polished Snow Quartz on the cap heads.

September Birthstone

This month we are taking a closer look at the September Birthstone which is Sapphire.

The September birthstone Sapphire is chemically and structurally the same as Ruby both are varieties of the mineral corundum. Sapphires are well know among the general public as being blue, but can be nearly any colour except shades of red or pink (since those are called rubies)

Sapphire is associated with the values of truth, sincerity, commitment, and loyalty.

The Duchess of Cambridge recently accepted a second piece of jewellery owned by the late Diana Princess of Wales. The diamond and sapphire earrings have a similar cluster design to her engagement ring. The Duchess added her own touch by remodelling the studs into drop earring. We think she looks beautiful wearing them.
