THE DESIGN OF EXCELLENCE COLLECTION IS COMING TO HITCHIN

W.B. Gatwards of Hitchin are pleased and honoured to be hosting the Designs of Excellence jewellery collections. This collection is touring the UK showcasing the latest jewellery trends and top designing talent.

This year’s winner was William Cheshire. He designs and makes jewellery for women and men. Working from his Hatton Garden studio all the pieces are made in-house following a creative, design path from start to finish. His inspirations come from the diverse polarization of the classical, to the freethinking ethos of punk/pop culture. This mix gives the work an exciting and original feel, creating jewellery with diverse and enigmatic themes.

Notable runners up in Sarah Ho, last year’s winner and Babette Wasserman another contender from last year’s competition. These stunning handcrafted designs, by some of the UK brightest young talents, will be at Gatwards until 5th May.

Bond is Back!

To celebrate 50 years since the first Bond film burst on to our film screens- Omega has launch a limited edition Seamaster Diver 300m watch.  The watch has been released in two sizes; 41mm
(212.30.41.20.01.005) and 36.25mm (212.30.36.20.01.005) and Gatwards of Hitchin is pleased to say that we have both watches now available to purchase.

This ever popular model has been updated and packed with Bond detailing. The ceramic bezel is in matt chromium nitrate with the exception of the red ‘50’- a reminder of the 50 years of James Bond’s exploits over the last half century. Time for the technical bit:

-          Omega calibre 2507 self winding movement a

-          Certified chronometer

-          Co-Axial escapement

-          Helium escape valce

-          Sapphire Crystal glass

-          Indexes are white Super-LumiNova coated (for easy reading in all light conditions)

-          Water resistant up to 300m or 30bar

-          Date window at 3 o’clock

The Bond legacy is visible even on the back of the watch with the iconic ‘bullet and gun barrel’ design. The lacquered black dial features the 007 monogram. The 41mm has 11 applied indexes while the 36.25mm watch has a diamond at 7 o’clock and 10 applied indexes.

There are only 11,007 watches made in the 41mm case size, of which we have four, and 3,007 watches made in the 36.25mm case size, of which we have two.
